Peabody Place Entertainment and Retail Center Continues Successful Downtown Growth

When the Peabody Place Entertainment and Retail Center opened in downtown Memphis nearly two years ago, it marked the culmination of a vision that began two decades earlier. Beginning with the restoration of The Peabody hotel in the early 1980s, the downtown area is now a thriving center for entertainment, art, homes, and offices.

Today, Peabody Place Entertainment and Retail Center continues to build upon its early success. The 300,000-square-foot center is currently 95 percent leased and original tenants such as the Muvico Peabody Place 22 and Jillian’s Restaurant and Entertainment report that sales and customer traffic are high.

In addition to Muvico Peabody Place 22 and Jillian’s, the center is home to Dan McGuinness Irish Pub; Isaac Hayes’ Music, Food & Passion; Puccini and Pasta; Tower Records; and shops such as Morgan Studios, Walson’s Jewelers, Ann Taylor Loft, Gap, Gap Kids, Victoria’s Secret, and Hot Topic, among others. WREG, Memphis’ CBS affiliate, also broadcasts live newscasts twice a day from the Peabody Place Entertainment and Retail Center satellite studio.

Entertainment options at the center extend far beyond shopping. Jillian’s houses a large indoor arcade, pool tables, and a cosmic bowling alley. Patrons can even enjoy a game of miniature golf at The Putting Edge, an indoor course with black lights and music.

New restaurants and retailers have joined the growing list of destination stops at Peabody Place. Texas de Brazil serves up delicious Brazilian churrascaria-style cuisine, while Napoli Pizza and Subs specializes in Italian dishes.

H2Oasis offers full-body massages using unique water therapy that simulates a finger-tip massage without having to get wet.

Patrons also can enjoy live cooking demonstrations while browsing for cookware and accessories at Isaac Hayes’ Studio and Kitchen.

The newest tenant at the Peabody Place Entertainment and Retail Center will be Coco and Lilly’s clothing store, scheduled to open soon.

"The Peabody Place Entertainment and Retail Center brings a diverse mix of retail and entertainment venues to downtown Memphis that previously was unavailable," said Andrew J. Groveman, senior vice president of Belz Enterprises. "The center has been well-received by both retailers and the public, and we look forward to prolonged success as the downtown area continues to grow."
