Belz Beats Forecast For 2001 Leasing

2001 was certainly a challenging year for retailers. While much of the retail business world has felt the effects of September 11th and the recent economic downturn, Belz's Factory Outlet Worlds continued to thrive. Most notably, its factory outlets exceeded forecasts when year-end numbers were tallied, showing a combined total of more than 500,000 square feet of new and renewed leases in 2001, with Belz Factory Outlet World – Orlando accounting for more than a third of those renewals.

Vanity Fair: World's Largest Apparel Manufacturer Joins Belz's
Factory Outlet Worlds – Lakeland and St. Augustine

Vanity Fair, the well-known name behind many popular brands such as Lee, Wrangler, Jansport, Healthtex and Lily of France, will soon join Belz's outlet centers in Lakeland, Tennessee and St. Augustine, Florida. In Lakeland, the recently signed lease for 22,800 square feet of space is scheduled for a Grand Opening on July 20. St. Augustine will open its 21,200-square-foot Vanity Fair this fall in Mall I.

Las Vegas Thrives: Designer Center and Additional Annex Planned

With success often come plans for expansion. This is the case with Belz Factory Outlet World - Las Vegas where Belz is planning a 32,000-square-foot 'Designer Center' addition to the front of the outlet mall. The addition will house approximately 10 to 11 luxury brand outlet stores. All storefronts will boast a fashionable, elegant facade, which will be designed and built-out by the developer based upon tenant specifications. Also planned is a 50,000-square-foot Annex (Phase IV). A 27,000-square-foot, soon-to-be-announced apparel manufacturer will anchor the Annex. Completion of both expansions is slated for third quarter 2003.

Successful Opening and Big Plans for the Future: Belz's Newest Outlet Mall in Puerto Rico

Belz Factory Outlet World in Canóvanas, Puerto Rico, which recently celebrated its Grand Opening in August 2001, has more good news to announce. Nautica will soon join Polo, Tommy Hilfiger, Nike, Liz Claiborne and many other luxury brands located in Puerto Rico's first enclosed factory outlet center. The new 4,245-square-foot Nautica outlet is scheduled to open in late July. In November, the outlet mall will also welcome Caribbean Cinema. The new theater will boast seven screens – three of which will have stadium seating.

Belz Tenants: Making Headlines

It is the quality of tenants that choose to open new locations at Belz's outlet centers – and to renew their leases – that makes headlines. For instance, Tommy Hilfiger, Mikasa, Wet Seal, Skechers, Windsor, Writer's Edge, and Perry Ellis were among the tenants that leased space at Belz Factory Outlet World – Las Vegas this past year. Harry & David, Springmaid, Cool Shades, Skechers, and Traffic all joined Belz Factory Outlet World – Orlando's prestigious tenant roster in 2001. Belz Designer Outlet Center in Orlando gained Perry Ellis and Top Camera as tenants, renewed Birckenstock's lease and expanded Fossil Store's space by another 1,190 square feet. Belz's original Factory Outlet World in Lakeland recently renewed and 85,000-square-foot lease with Old Time Pottery. Pendleton joined Belz's Pigeon Forge, Tennessee location and Belz Factory Outlet World in St. Augustine also signed on Dansk and Special Brands by Liz Claiborne. In addition to Nautica and Caribbean Cinemas, Trade Secret, Pacheco Jewelers and David's Cookies are also the latest retailers to join Belz Factory Outlet World – Puerto Rico.

With all of these exciting developments, there is no doubt that all of the Belz Factory Outlet Worlds are poised for yet another prosperous year!
