Peabody Little Rock Celebrates
Grand Opening

The Peabody Hotel Group kicked off the current year with the grand opening of its third Peabody Hotel property. Located in the former Excelsior Hotel on the banks of the Arkansas River, in Little Rock, Arkansas, The Peabody Little Rock offers visitors four-star quality and the world-famous Peabody Ducks.

"In keeping with the tradition of the South's grand hotel, we have completely renovated and redecorated the former Excelsior Hotel," said Marty Belz, president and CEO of Peabody Hotel Group. "We also updated all the guestrooms.

The Peabody-Little RockThe Peabody Little Rock is now the place for tourists and business travelers alike to feel at home." The Peabody Little Rock has 418 spacious guest rooms and 22 suites, all equipped with dataport hook-ups and two phone lines. The hotel also offers an athletic center, beauty salon, audio-visual technology services and a business center.

The $40-million reconstruction effort began in the fall of 2000. The renovated lobby features a baby grand piano and a 42-foot, curved, black granite bar. The entryway is paved with golden limestone and lined with a multi-color mosaic border. Black granite serves as the base for the entire entry area and towering columns are surrounded with lush greenery.

The Peabody Duck Fountain is located in the entry and provides the ducks a place to play during the day. The black granite fountain is the largest fountain of the three hotels, offering guests more space to watch the ducks.

The Peabody Little Rock has an interior connection to the State House Convention Center, as well as plenty of pre-function and meeting space in the hotel. With 40,000 square feet of flexible meeting space, the hotel can accommodate intimate groups or large gatherings. For pre-function events, organizers can use the 5,044-square-foot Peabody Ballroom Foyer. Featuring lounge-style seating, it provides the perfect place to gather for morning coffee or evening cocktails. The large, 10,824-square-foot Peabody Ballroom can be divided into three sections, depending on the amount of space needed.

A visit to The Peabody wouldn't be complete without enjoying a variety of dining selections. Capriccio offers guests a memorable dining experience centered around the culinary theme of the Tuscan region of Northern Italy. Mallard's Bar is the perfect place to relax with friends. During the week, guests can enjoy a traditional English tea at Afternoon Tea.

Having already received a Four-Diamond rating from the American Automobile Association (AAA), The Peabody Little Rock is poised to become Arkansas' premier hotel, setting the standard for years to come.
