FURNITURE DESIGN STUDIO OPENING AT CHAMPION HILLS OFFICE PARK

Memphis, TN (December 01, 2003) - The Alan White Company, an Arkansas-based furniture manufacturer, is opening a new, 3,500-square-foot design studio in Southeast Memphis at Champion Hills Office Park at the end of this year.

Based in Stamps, Arkansas, The Alan White Company is a large upholstery/living room furniture manufacturer with production factories in Shannon, Mississippi, and Sulligent, Alabama. The company selected Memphis for its design studio location because the city provides a strategic center among the other three facilities.

"We travel frequently between Arkansas, Mississippi, and Alabama, and Memphis is a perfect, central location for the design studio," said Douglas White, chairman and CEO of The Alan White Company. "Another reason we chose Memphis was to position ourselves in a place where we can take advantage of global prospects. A lot of potential international customers pass through Memphis on their way to Tupelo, which is home to the second-largest large upholstery/living room manufacturer in the world."

According to White, Champion Hills Office Park offered two special features that stood out when they were searching for a location. "We wanted a space that would lend itself to the creative process. Aesthetically, Champion Hills is an attractive setting that will help stimulate our creativity," said White. "Another requirement for our studio was that it needed a good source of natural light. The floor-to-ceiling windows at Champion Hills were perfect for us."

"Belz designed Champion Hills to be an attractive site for people who want their business situated in premier Class A office space," said Andrew J. Groveman, senior vice president of Belz. "The office park overlooks Windyke Country Club, which offers three golf courses and a tennis facility. It is an ideal setting for tenants such as The Alan White Company, who are looking for beautiful and functional space."

Overall, The Alan White Company employs approximately 1,000 people at its facilities in Arkansas, Mississippi, and Alabama. The Memphis studio will employ six - four designers, Douglas White, and Sue White, who is an executive vice president and oversees the design team.
